Who Am I?
Hi there! My name is Jesse Petre. Like you, I am a fountain pen enthusiast. I bought my first fountain pen sometime around 2005: a yellow Lamy Safari. From there, my passion for the hobby has done nothing but grow more intense.
After a few years of collecting and writing, I started working on my pens. It started with simple adjustments and organically grew from there to grinds and restorations. I found that I truly loved working on pens and bringing them back to life, or simply eking out all the potential a nib has hiding in it. I started offering to work on others' pens, first on FPN and Reddit. People were happy with my work, and I was thrilled I could make someone love their pen even more. I launched Pentuner.com a few years ago and had great success with it.
In 2018, I had back-to-back cross-county moves that really put a damper on my workshop. I closed the website and stopped taking orders while I finalized my moves and could get settled. Today, in 2020, I am very happy to reopen the site (with a brand new design!) and again offer my tuning and repair services to the fountain pen community.
Pentuner is a passionate hobby; I still have a full-time job, and I'm not trying to replace it. My prices are favorable (I think) because I genuinely get enjoyment out of tuning pens for my customers and hearing how happy they are. I'm thrilled that you are here, and I look forward to working with you. Thank you!
